Asian Brummies Unite Against Racism and Fascism

Community organisations and anti-racist campaigners in Birmingham are calling on residents to stand together against racism, fascism and division. The initiative, titled "Asian Brummies Unite", has been launched in response to a planned demonstration by the far-right group Britain First in Birmingham.

Organisers say the campaign aims to bring together people from all backgrounds, including Asian, Black, Muslim, Jewish and migrant communities, as well as trade unionists, students and local residents. They argue that unity and solidarity are the strongest response to attempts to spread hatred and division within communities.

A public meeting will be held at the Shaheed Udham Singh Centre in Handsworth to discuss how local people can organise opposition to racism and support a peaceful community response. The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents, community groups and trade unions to coordinate efforts and demonstrate Birmingham's long-standing tradition of multiculturalism and mutual support.

The campaign highlights concerns about increasing far-right activity and recent racist incidents, while emphasising that social and economic challenges should not be blamed on migrants or minority communities. Instead, organisers are calling for collective action, solidarity and community engagement.

A larger counter-demonstration is planned for 20 June, with participants encouraged to join together in a visible show of opposition to racism and fascism. The campaign's message is clear: Birmingham's diverse communities are strongest when they stand united against hate and division.

Public Meeting: Sat 6 June 2026, 4–6 PM

Location: Shaheed Udham Singh Centre, 346 Soho Rd, Handsworth, Birmingham B21 9QL
