Community Condolence Meeting in memory of the late Professor Jason Arday

Black & Diverse Safeguarding Professionals CIC, with Legacy Centre & BRIG, hosts a condolence meeting for Prof. Jason Arday.

Le’Siran Edwards, Founder of Black & Diverse Safeguarding Professionals CIC, in collaboration with the Legacy Centre of Excellence and Birmingham Race Impact Group (BRIG) and with permission from Professor Jason Arday’s family, will hold a Community Condolence Meeting in his memory.

We invite you to join us at the Legacy Centre of Excellence on Saturday 3rd October 2026, 5:00 pm, for a special evening celebrating the life, achievements and lasting impact of Jason Arday.

Rather than a traditional remembrance, the evening will create a space for honest, meaningful conversations, inspired by Professor Jason Arday’s work, exploring institutional racism, neurodiversity, the experiences of black leaders and how we can better support one another within predominantly white professional environments. We’ll look beyond the challenges to ask: how do we turn shared experiences into positive change and create safer, more supportive spaces for the next generation?

We hope this will be a powerful evening of reflection and meaningful dialogue.

• Panel 1 + Audience Discussion: What systems of care, protection and accountability are needed to ensure Black professionals are not left to carry the burden of racial harm alone?

• Panel 2 + Audience Discussion: As DEI becomes increasingly contested and weaponised, what needs to be reclaimed or redesigned to ensure racial justice remains centred on the communities it was created to serve?

• Community Reflection: What Must We Carry Forward? A facilitated, solution-focused discussion exploring the collective action needed to sustain progress, support our communities and shape what comes next.
