Come What May, We're Here to Stay: Unite The People Book Launch & In Conversation with journalist and writer Taj Ali
The Story of South Asian Resistance in Britain
Book Launch with writer Taj Ali
Sun 27 Sept, 6–8pm
BRIG Warehouse Café
54-57 Allison Street, B5 5TH.
In Come What May, We’re Here to Stay, journalist and historian Taj Ali uncovers the often-overlooked history of South Asian resistance in Britain. From anti-colonial students and striking seafarers to struggles against racism and workplace discrimination, the book traces generations fighting for rights, dignity and belonging. It explores how anti-imperialist and anti-racist movements forged alliances across communities—from Irish republicanism to Black Power—and asks what these histories can teach us today.
Join Taj Ali, journalist, historian and former editor of Tribune, in conversation with cultural activist Mukhtar Dar for an evening exploring resistance, solidarity and political activism in British South Asian history. The event includes an audience Q&A, book signing, and copies of the book available to purchase on the evening.
