HOME: Celebrating Six Decades of The Africa Centre

HOME is a short documentary that celebrates sixty years of The Africa Centre, a historic institution recognised as a cornerstone of African and diasporic culture, community, and belonging. The film highlights the Centre’s enduring legacy as a gathering place for iconic figures such as Ama Ata Aidoo, Chinua Achebe, Fela Kuti, James Baldwin, Maya Angelou, and Ousmane Sembène.

Produced by YAASAA and directed by Curtis EsselHOME captures how The Africa Centre has fostered generations of artists, thinkers, and revolutionaries who have shaped global Black consciousness. Through rare footage and personal reflections, it showcases the Centre’s pivotal role in connecting African and diasporic voices across time and space.
